I am running the latest version of the OS v3.1.2 and I can definitely say that the problem is still there. My iPhone has never crashed but I still have situations where email I have deleted from my InBox shows back up later on.
At this point, I delete the emails, then go into the Trash folder, delete everything in there, then click Refresh icon so that it will force a sync back with the POP3 server, and THEN go back to my InBox and click the Refresh button a second time from there!
While this seems to have reduced the number of times I get 'regurgitated emails', it is not always work. Not to mention the fact that I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to delete messages.
It is a security/privacy issue and it needs to be addressed. This is at least 'one problem' I never had with my WIndows Mobile device.
