However, QuickPawn siad maybe by Friday!

I tried to use the instuctions from iClarified.com but ran into the issue of not being able to fine the .psw file!!!!!!!

I am going to now get tethering to work and wait for Quickpawn to be released.
I had the same problem not finding the ipsw file. I ended up using Pwned tool and was able to JB. It all seemed a bit more difficult then when I used quickpwned on V2.2

Interesting, good to know. Nowhere could I find directions indicating that. Do you do that before unzipping?

You dont need to unzip it. Just rename it.

If you upgraded your iPhone to 3.0 on the same PC, then you have the IPSW file. It's in your iTunes folder.

Or, you can download it directly from Apple using the link I posted in another thread.

iClarify.com has a link to both redsn0w and the .ipsw files.

I just jailbroke and unlocked my 3G.

It was really easy.

You may have to rename the exsention of the .ipsw file from .zip to .ipsw

Is redsn0w the best way to go for 3.0 3GS jailbreak? I've never JB'd any of my iPhones before but I need tethering more than ever now..

Mark, why do you unlock your phone? Isn't that so it can be used with another carrier?

I may want to sell my iPhone in the future and an unlocked phone may fetch me more money.

Gotcha! I wasn't aware that it could be unlocked and not affect current service with AT&T. Still learning, thanks!

As of about 9 hours ago (approximately 11:30 p.m PDT), which is the last time I checked, jailbreaking is still not available for the iPhone 3GS. Although the Dev Team has figured out how to jailbreak a 3GS, it has not yet released a way of doing it for the rest of us.

From the Dev Team's blog yesterday:

Quote:
We can jailbreak the 3GS right now. But making our jailbreak public at this point in time would benefit relatively few people. It would in fact be detrimental to many more people than it would help. So we feel it’s best to keep our version of the jailbreak out of Apple’s sights for the time being.

3.1 is coming and the smart thing is to not jailbreak 3.0 3Gs and wait till 3.1

Thumbs up redsn0w and ultrasn0w for iPhone 3GS released!

The Dev Team has released redsn0w 0.8, which supposedly works for the 3GS (but not firmware 3.1 ). redsn0w will allow you to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS.

The Dev Team also has released ultrasn0w 0.8, which will allow you to unlock your 3GS iPhone.
