PdaNet released for iPhone!

I used to use PdaNet on my WM phone anytime I needed a net connection and couldn't find any other way on while travelling.

Good news - JuneFabrics just released an iPhone version - for free! And, it works flawlessly on my Vista machine.

So, if you can't find wifi somewhere, you can still be connected at 3G speeds, without even any need to physically tether to your iPhone - your computer connects via a wifi connection between it and your iPhone, which in turn is connected to the net via 3G. Pretty cool!

That's a great find, Tim! Thanks for the tip. I'm going to install it as soon as my iPhone finishes rebooting.

Just to clarify.

You have to jailbreak your phone for this application.

PdaNet -- Use your iPhone as a Wireless Router for your PC/Mac

That is great news, knocking off one more of the few reasons not to have an iPhone. Now, if AT&T can just get their network beefed up.

with this i will now probably be jailbreaking my iphone. this is one of two things i miss most about my windows mobile phone. the ability to tether now will be great. now if we could just get slingbox up and working whether it be through jailbreak or app store doesnt matter i just want it.

If you start your jailbreaking at 10:30, you will be done, up and running by 10:40 at the latest. As they say, it is so simple "a caveman could do it."

OK

I had to install .NET
Also I got a MS message that it had to shut down Pwnage.
When I clicked ok it would close the app.
So next time I just moved that dialog to the side and it continued with the JBing process and completed.

I just installed PDANet and I will now try to figure out how to use it.

John,

In theory yes. However, if you don't have 3G service it is close to useless.

One thing I liked about VZW was the EVDO coverage was real.

+1 - I've been surprised at how anemic the 3G coverage is for AT&T. Edge seems comparable in terms of overall coverage, though.

If you're not in a 3G area I assume it will still work on edge then too right...
