Observation about Push e-mail
Last week, I happened to actually go on vacation. For once in my converged life, I actually turned Push e-mail off so I could enjoy the time with my family and not be disrupted every 5-10 minutes or with a new e-mail. I subsequently observed that I seemed to be getting noticeably more life out of my iPhone's battery. So, over the past couple of days, I decided to actually check the usage stats. Here is what I have for the first test: - Usage 3 Hours, 49 minutes
- Standby 2 Days, 0 Hours
- Current period talk time 1 hour, 57 minutes
- Data sent 389 KB
- Data received 5.4MB
I currently still have 14% of my batteyr left and might be able to make it through the rest of the work day without a charge (but I don't want to chance that so I will be charging my iPhone shortly).
At first plush, those stats might not indicate much more battery life. However, the nearly 2 hours of talk time this battery cycle are, I believe, a little greater usage for me than normal.
One other thing that is different from my prior tests: I am running firmware 3.0 beta 5. After the final version of 3.0 is released next week, I might run some more tests.
