Note: this only works on a Mac right now. There is no PC version yet.

Not that I've tried this, but what makes you think it won't work on Windows? There is a jailbreak process for Windows, and the instructions specifically reference Windows.

I could have used this over the weekend when I was traveling (if I had an iPhone, of course). I had my MacBook with me, but the hotel charged $9.99 for 24 hours of Wi Fi access, which I was not going to pay. I didn't need the internet that badly and, if I did, I could have used the hotel's business center for free.

I don't travel enough to justify purchasing a separate data plan and USB cellular radio. Thus, tethering is an ideal solution for me. I hope they are able to perfect this process and/or PDANet releases a version for the iPhone.

Yes, there is a jailbreak for Windows, but the actual tethering process is Mac-only right now, based on the instructions.

I must be missing something - the tethering instructions clearly give the steps for Windows.

Quote:
On Windows, set up internet connection sharing.
Quote:
Windows users: the free SSH client Putty will allow you to accomplish this same step.
Are you saying these don't work?

Ahhh, those are changes from the original version which was initially only for Macs... I stand corrected.
