I found a I phone that it's asking me to put in a number code to unlock the phone does anyone know how i can reset it or bypass becasue i dont know the number code?
I agree, just call ATT. The code could be anything.
FYI, I changed my iPhone up a bit so that the "slide to unlock" sign now reads Enter 4 digit PIN. The slide arrow is replaced with an Apple logo of sorts. This is what I consider a layer of protection from the less knowledgeable people who may find my phone.
Look at his past posts. That pretty much says it all.
If someones phone is stolen and resold, will the phone company know it's stolen when the new buyer tries to activate it? If so, I don't think this guy would still be around, because he goes through a lot of phones. OTOH, as far as online deals here go, he sells a lot more than he buys.
really guys, if its stolen then just be thankful it isnt yours, telling him (IF it is stolen) to give it back is like telling bush not to go to war. even with the IMEI # it can still be re-used, You would just have to buy another SIM and reactivate thru iTunes. GSM networks do not blacklist ESNs like CDMA carriers do. A SIM is the only thing that regulates that and thats why you have to buy a new SIM. As far as wanting to ban someone for who you THINK has a stolen phone and NOT KNOWING, you should be ashamed. For all we know this person is buying refurbed on the side or mulitples in a pallet lot auction or somewhere else.
it's okay hoe, nobody here is going to ban him. Even you must admit that his note is suspicious, at best. "Hey, I was just walking around and found this phone, and now it wont leave me alone. It keeps asking me to enter a number. Gosh, I'd like to move on with my life, but this phone wont leave me alone."
I don't think the guy is lying, but I don't think all of his cards are on the table either. If he honestly found it, he should return it to ATT. If he bought it in bulk shipment, then he didn't "just find it".
If he is selling hot phones, they'll catch up with him on the buy and sell fourms. I don't think it's our job to ban someone on suspicions. He is free to ask the question he asked as is the person(s) who suggest that he is less than forthright...as is your suggestion to cut him some slack.

youdahoe - here's a ladder to climb down off your high horse...
I second what JMT said. Nobody called the OP a thief, but they were suggesting that maybe the OP may be a little shady in his operations. Yes, he may have bought and sold phones before but the iPhone is a different beast to most users. Asking for a "cheat" to unlock the handset clearly rings some bells and causes one to wonder why he asks.
37 posts, and 5+ phones sold. Sorry but if I was Admin on this forum he would be gone.
That is your opinion and I appreciate that. However, I don't think the OP has done enough to warrant a ban or suspension, although technically we prefer members to be a little more active and established before selling things on our forums. You are right in that 37 posts are mostly about selling devices, and then this question comes along... again, not enough evidence, but it sure raises suspicion.
Interestingly, I did a little research... it seems the OP also posted his question on one of AT&T's online forums, and the admin asked him if he found it, and he replied that yes he found an 8GB iPhone. Again, if he DID find it, he should return it to AT&T and not claim it as his own. That is just WRONG!
Yes, he has apparently been trying to move from VzW to AT&T and did so last fall. So now that he found an iPhone, he apprently wants to use it or sell it, but it's locked. Hmm... so his buying and selling phones makes some sense, but this one is out of character.
