Well, I could see why they do this as it would eat battery, but you are right there must be a time out setting somewhere. As I have not seen it anywhere in menus I am guessing you are looking at a registry edit for this one. I currently use Pandora in the car, and when plugged in my connection never times out. For this reason, I am guessing it is tied into the power profiles somewhere.
