I did not have to do that with my Parrot BT car kit. I just tapped the green "call" button on the Parrot and it it triggered the iPhone's Voice Command. I did not have to touch the iPhone. If I held the call button down for a couple of seconds, it just redialed the last number called.

Will check my BT headset but this may just vary from headset to headset.
