@dangerous, discharging on a Vista machine

Can you tell the difference in state, charge or discharge on the Vista machine? Before it seemed like if a phone was charging, you'd get the beep on connection, the Power light on the top of the phone would turn red, whatever battery icon you had would indicate charging, and if you go to the Power applet, it would say "Recharging state: Charging" I'd be curious to know if anyone thinks they have a phone that is DISCHARGING and it still says any of these things.

Maybe like Dangerous intimates, some of the problem comes from what OS or what computer you connect the phone to and not all USB ports are created equal?
