Like mmatarella, I've been a faithful user of the VZW's i730 since its release over 3 years ago. I love that phone. Sure, by current standards it's BIG, but it does everything I need it to. I'm a computer consultant, and really love the remote desktop functionality to manage servers when I'm not physically on site, Slingbox, Bluetooth Modem (even on my Mac), etc....

Now my phone is OLD! I need a new one and have been waiting for something that takes it to a new level. I've been reading all the posts, I can find, on this phone, here and other places. But, I haven't been able to find a comparison of the TP from Verizon/Sprint/ATT versions and the international unlocked version. The international version appears to be what is actually advertised on HTC's web site.

I'm considering purchasing the international version. I know it won't connect w/ Verizon or Sprint, as it's GSM and not CDMA. From my research, ATT would have the best HiSpeed connection for GSM. I also like the fact that you don't have to hack the phone to get the functionality that's been limited by the US carriers. I've talked to 2nd and 3rd lvl Tech Support person at ATT and they both have been able to get the international phone %100 up and running on their network.

Besides, I like the non-branded look and actual "Diamond" back to the phone

Does anyone have any compare and contrast opinions on the US carrier's phones vs. the international version?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

The TP is the only phone I've really been researching. Nothing else, I've heard of, has all the capabilities of the i730 + and bells 'n whistles (like the FM radio.) If you can suggest a comparable phone, I'm all ears.
