I'm using the Power applet. Start->Settings->System->Power (I get it by hitting the Spb PP Battery icon). Perhaps I'm just so enthused with Win7 that I wasn't looking at my phone as much as I normally do. But whatever, at least it seems I can leave BT on all day without taking a major hit in battery charge. The Power applet scale seems to be a reasonably continuous (maybe 5% increments) scale of battery charge.
I never go by the Spb Mobile Shell NOW screen battery icon or the Spb PP icon for battery charge.
