Isn't that just a security feature and the only real power consumption will be if Bluetooth is on - then the device will be looking for "incoming beams" - but if we turn bluetooth off to save power, then it shouldn't make a difference, right?
Crazy that you have to both make your device discoverable and accept incoming beams. I guess a "beam" deposits some text info that you can read to decide whether to file it, e.g. a contact, whereas the discoverable route you get the device notification and maybe a passcode request instead of the text transferred.
