Most books on organization recommend not getting distracted/interrupted by e-mail throughout the day. So unless you have a boss/colleagues/sales contacts who are going to go bonkers if you don't reply within the next 10 minutes, turn off the push feature or at least slow it down to once every 1/2 hour or once every hour. You will be less distracted during the day and your battery will love you for it. If you sync in an area with low bars, your phone will expend extra energy connecting to the detriment of your battery. If you manually sync when you are in a decent signal area, your charge will go farther. I sync when I am outside some of our massive buildings not riding up in a steel-enclosed elevator.
