for whatever reason choosing the "Alternative playback mode" (for WM5) plays the alarms at the volume I need. I will now be able to give G-alarm a real try as a replacement.

Fixed the same issue in G-Watch (use the Countdown timer often). Anyone know why this "fixed" my problem? What is this alternative playback mode?
