Sprite backup 6 does not support Omnia. Maybe this is why I'm having trouble
I know everyone thinks I'm crazy. But below is the message on the Sprite Backup support site on Saturday, December 20 2008.

The Samsung Omnia device is currently not supported. We are currently investigating the problem and will have more news soon.
Current version of Sprite Backup 6 is 6.5.4
We recommend that you update to this version which can be downloaded from here: Sprite Backup 6.5.4
Check what version you have - open Sprite Backup and tap Options> Help> About.
