I could see having the screen brightness highing making more of a difference with this phone since the screen is larger. On my i760 I usually start at 60%, use it for a week, bump it down to 50%, use for a week, bump it down to 40%, etc. etc. that way I gradually am able to lower it to 30-40% and it's not as noticable.
