Yep, you do lose on screen size, but the resolutions are getting insane. I guess they think they can make up for screen size with clarity. We are still in the age where they are trying to make everything smaller and smaller. Personally I don't mind the footprint of my 730 or 6800 (almost the same other than the stubby antenna on the 730), but I will say that the difference in thickness between the 2 is noticeable now that I have carried them both for a while.

Heck Id go for an HTC Shift if it had a phone. I don't care as much for compactness as my Samsung i730 suits me just fine with my Nutshell case and extended 2400 mAh battery. I care about the screen quality, what I'm looking at, the power behind it, and the usable qwerty/typing.

I also have been using the camera way more than I thought I would. It is amazing what it will do and if you learn the settings and get off of auto mode the pics are really nice for 4X6 prints. All I want out of either model (6800 and 730) is more rom space. 6.1 takes up more space than 5 and so I am constantly fighting those out of memory errors - something I never had to do on my 730. I will say for me that doing the same things with basically the same programs my 6800 is much more stable. I really never have to soft reset. I still do about once a week mostly out of habit.

While having a camera is nice, hey wow picture profiles with ease, what a concept right?.. the memory thing is ridiculous.

I think that a phone will have to be truly groundbreaking to make me upgrade again now as VZW is REQUIRING their $30 plan on any new phone from here on out. This I think is ridiculous - I like the option to turn it on and off from month to month based on need and cash on hand.

Now is this for any phone that launches after the 13th or for ANY 3g phone? I CANNOT STAND that they're doing this as I don't want to pay extra for it..I just use WIFI. While having the option to turn it and or the 1x Quick2Net (which you cant do anymore aparrently) on or off, having the data option to switch back and forth from still sucks because they'd prorate you anyways.

The things I miss most about the 730 are the vert slider (altho the slider on the 6800 is very nice - love the fn and cap locks with indicators), the great remote control app and IR range (used it more than I ever thought I would) and the faster processor with the ability to scale it (with 3rd party apps).

I am thinking about getting an XV6800 (again) not only for the nicer qwerty (WHY are they making all these new devices with a LEFT SIDE horizontal sliding qwerty??) which you can open with one hand because it slides from the right but also because of the GPS and custom ROMs. BUT if I find out that if I switched back and forth from that to the i730 that they will put me on the new data package I won't be buying it nor any new phone to use on Verizon. YEa are they STILL not able to overclock the 6800?
