Keep in mind that my first post was in response to the OP's post. Of course, I can't disagree with you about the innovation part, since all App Store apps have to pass through "big brother" Apple certification. Thus they are limited in what they can or can't do, as compared to jailbreak apps, which have no such rules.
But I think we are getting into semantics here... it's the term "semi-useless" that I object to and I was making my case for/against.
One man's trash is another man's treasure... everything is relative. The terms "trash" and "treasure" are opinions - because they are personal views based on a personal set of circumstances. And "useful" and "useless" are pretty much the same way... along with "innovation" and "stagnation."
My whole point was to engage in a dialogue with the OP about his opinion. I can certainly see the value in JB'ing to get apps that will help people do something they couldn't before. I can also see the value in keeping a stable platform that will work 24x7. If we can get both guaranteed, great... if not, why take the risk? To poo-poo the "big brother" way to reinforce an argument is just not logical. Show me the benefit! Why is it "useful" to you? What makes it so compelling? To tell me that because "keeping it legal sucks" is not a valid reason, since it is working just fine for me in a legal, non-JB manner.
