Try subscribing to the new apps feed from Pinch Media for a couple of weeks. You'll get about 300 apps per week. I've been subscribed since the feed came out, and I've actually looked at every app in the feed (not in detail, of course, but I've at least glanced at it). At least 50% of them are complete junk. Another 25% or so are duplicates of apps that already exist (competition is fine, but how many tip calculators and "One Touch Dialers" do we need?). Then the same logic would apply to all of the Cydia/Installer apps for a jailbroken phone... do you have ALL of them installed? Or MOST of them? Then the rest are SEMI-USELESS - TO YOU! Not necessarily to everyone else... so how does that make jailbreaking better? It is only "better" because the apps don't have to follow Apple's rules... again, these are opinions based on what an individual thinks is or isn't useful.

I'm not saying there are a vast majority of apps through the App Store that I want or even have. But what I am saying is that busting on the App Store based on the logic that the majority of apps there are "semi-useless" doesn't hold water, because the same can be said of jailbroken apps. There may only be 3 or 4 very popular and useful apps for jailbroken iPhones that everyone talks about and downloads, and everything else is "semi-useless" to the majority of users.

I would like to think that the members of this forum can be a little more open-minded than that... perhaps it was just a poor choice of words or it was meant as a tongue-in-cheek poke at Apple's own closed-mindedness.

Perhaps SpineDoc can chime in and let us know what he was thinking?
