Of course it's opinion, but I don't think it's an invalid one.
Try subscribing to the new apps feed from Pinch Media for a couple of weeks. You'll get about 300 apps per week. I've been subscribed since the feed came out, and I've actually looked at every app in the feed (not in detail, of course, but I've at least glanced at it). At least 50% of them are complete junk. Another 25% or so are duplicates of apps that already exist (competition is fine, but how many tip calculators and "One Touch Dialers" do we need?). So, I would agree that the majority are semi-useless.
