Hi guys...
Well I finally got around getting a replacement phone after the screen "smudge" issue and also updated it to WM6.1. I figured since things were more or less running stable with WM6 I would wait until I had a reason to reload/hard reset my phone to install it.. And it all when through first time!
It was quite painless. So here's my story...
1) I synced my phone to make sure I had any info in my desktop outlook
2) I documented any settings in the OS or Apps that I would need to recreate after the update.
3) I used PIMBackup (
Dotfred's Space) to backup my contacts, calendar, tasks (yes those get backed up with a sync) and call logs, SMS and MMS messages, speed dials.
4) I ran the upgrade according to the link in the i760 support on the Verizon website...it took me to this Samsung site:
SAMSUNG's Digital World
Since I was on WinXP I followed the WinXP instruction to the LETTER! (I wonder how many people that are having issues are on Vista?)
5) Ran the update... no issues.
6) Restored my PIMBackup ... but could not restore my speed dials... infact I had to hard reset because it seemed to corrupt the speed dial app.
7) spent the rest of the day playing with the new OS and reloading my apps
