I think the difference between the products you reference and the one that Pastor Tim references is that the Kensington has a passthrough, which allows one to use an existing iPod device (such as my hardwired iPod adapter) with the 3G iPhone, whereas the cables you reference are just plain old straight USB cables. Also, buy.com no longer carries the first item listed in your post.
