Adata 4GB Micro SDHC Turbo - Working fine
Hello all - this is my first post here ever. So its probably gonna be long.
I started reading up on the i760 and storage cards as soon as I got the new-ish Samsung PPCphone from Verizon. I was kinda afwaid that I made the wrong choice in phone after reading through all this. But I really like how the i760 is put together so I was willing to give it a whirl. I was suprized by the lack of problems that I had. Anyway, here's what I have installed and done to the phone. I hope it helps someone else out there who likes this phone as well.
I got an Adata 4Gb micro SDHC Turbo from newegg for about $30. I have no idea what "Turbo" or "Class Six" means, but I wanted to get the fastest card I could find so those things sounded good.
When the card fianlly came, bit slow on the shipping, I began to work on my new toy. First I did a hard reset on the i760 (mostly because one of the first stickies in this forum says to) I didn't want to do the hard reset cause I had already purchased and installed a bunch of different apps for the phone. But I did it anyways. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. After the reset I installed the SDHC.cab fix. Then the card was recognized. Then I began re-installing all the apps that I already had or bought for this phone specifically. Some were left from my MotoQ which suprisingly worked well on the i760.
List (stuff works well):
- Spb Plus
- Spb Mobile Shell
- Spb Backup
- Pocket Mechanic pro
- PHM Registry Explorer (free)
- CorePlayer (used from old MotoQ)
- IM+ (upgraded to the PPC edition)
- LiveSearch (free, MS I know, but it works well to see traffic)
- Google Gears Mobile
Games (that work/display correctly no matter what):
- Spb Brain Evolution
- ATH No Limit Texas Hold em (from old MotoQ)
- Gem Box Gems
(haven't had a chance to give emaulators a whirl want to get a NES emu up on there)
These are the apps that I didn't reinstall (cause they kinda sucked)
- Spb Clone (kept on crashing my phone when I tried to use it, $200 down the crapper)
- Spb Diary (took up alot of memory and was really redundant)
- Spb Phone Suite (redundant with mobile shell and Spb Plus)
- Google Maps (free)(traffic info was less than stellar)
- Spb Tips and Tricks (not really much to learn from it, plus all 40 tweaks provided can be done via PHM reg editor)
Everything works great! I can take pix and flix and auto save to the card no problem. I can play movies and music straight off the card with no problem. You may have noticed that I do tend to stay away from MS apps on pretty much any device, so I use CorePlayer, I haven't even started MSMediaPlayer. I had CorePlayer on my MotoQ (smartphone WM5 not a PPC) and I just uninstalled it from the Q and installed it in the i760. Even though its the smartphone edition it works fine on the i760.
Just wanted to let peeps know that somebody was enjoying their i760 AND their SDHC storage.
Of course, I have no problem with spending extra cash to avoid MS apps. I also don't care if I have to edit the registry (did alot of that on the Q). This may be the reason why I enjoy my i760 so much. Or is it the Adata 4Gb Micro SDHC Turbo? Without the card I wouldn't be able to store much music or anything.
I'll let you all know which NES emulator I settle on and what settings worked for me, and of course how playing a rom off of the SDHC memory works.
Peace
