Not to get too off topic, but I'm not sure why you say that...Microsoft hasn't stopped supporting XP yet. Everything I have seen says it will be supported into at least 2009. If it gets the same length of support as Win 98/ME/XP SP1 did, then we'll have into 2010. There's even a Service Pack 3 for XP scheduled for the first half of 2008 currently.
Even if MS has stopped supporting XP SP2, they don't remove all of the fixes from the face of the internet...if there was some fix for this before, it still exists even after end of service. End of service just means they won't be focusing on and creating new fixes anymore for it.
