From what I understand the listed bands for AT&T for data are 1900 and 2100, which is exactly what the SGH-i760 has, so if that's true how wouldn't it really work in the US in that case? TMobile is only 1900 and the SGH-i760uses that call frequency, AT&T I believe uses both 1900 and 850 (I could have TMobile and AT&T reversed) but with either you have the frequencies being used for data and calling..only in one of the networks you could have places for outage of service or necessary roaming if you ae in an 850 area, but whichever one that is locked to just 1900 you will not..in that case it will just depend on coverage..I looked at both AT&T and TMobile and I am pretty saturated in my area for both 3G and call coverage.

Here are the most recent specs listed for the SGH-i760 by pdadb.net (I have talked to this guy several times and he got this info around December probably from the manager he knows at Popular Electronics or from the tech):

Samsung SGH-i760 Detailed Specs | Technical Specifications | PDAdb.net - Comprehensive Database of PDA, PDA Phone, PNA & Smartphone Specifications

This url from wiki states that AT&T AND TMobile use 1900 and 850 for data which makes no sense because only one of these companies uses 850..

So if one of the companies uses ONLY 1900 for call and data (and or also 2100) and the SGH-i760 has them both wouldn't that mean it would work?

There have been many who have already bought the SGH-i760, so I hope one of them at least will see this thread and post what their findings on what they can and can't do on it if there are some things they can't do with it in the US.
