Finally got it working after reinstalling both pieces. 1 question for Michael. I can't seem to get WPA to work though I got WEP to work. Any insight on this would be appreciated.

As for speed- the speed seems to be limited to the EVDO speed. I normally tether via USB and it seems to be a bit slower than that but highly acceptable. Given that all too often the USB plug gets knocked around while commuting on a crowded train and inevitably ends up dropping the connection, its not bad so far.
