USB "Found New Hardware" - Can't sync
Looking for help with connecting my PN-820 to my PC with the USB cable.
(It's a loooooong story, but...) All was once working fine then suddenly I could not boot my phone. (Yes, the problem started while connected to the PC with the USB cable.) The phone was stuck on the "Windows Mobile" splash screen, and even removing and re-inserting the battery would not fix.
So, VzW replaced the phone itself, (the new one has a "UTStarcom" label, not the Pantech one of the original) but now whenever I plug it into the USB cable, the "Found New Hardware" wizard pops up, and the phone is never recognized.
Have tried totally removing and reinstalling ActiveSync (both v4.2 that came on the CD, and v4.5 from the MS download site.)
Wondering if cable failure is possible/likely. The phone DOES charge via the USB cable with no problem, and most interestingly, ActiveSync works fine with using the Bluetooth connection!
I just can't edit the registry, move my preferred ringtone into the right folder, change the "Start" icons menu into a numbered list, or any of the other cool edits that make a SmartPhone so much better than if stuck with the carrier's defaults.)
Any help/advice welcomed!
Thanks in advance,
</Sheldon>
