I told the Verizon manager, who disagreed, that there ought to be a bypass available - at least when the phone has a pull out keyboard. You should be able to at least see your contacts & calendar, etc. even if you need to replace the phone.
My screen was only slightly misaligned, but it still worked.
BTW, the screen on the 6700 is about 1-2 mm smaller on top & bottom. I put the Samsung i730 screen protector on it to compare and that's how I found out. It looked bigger to me - optical illusion I guess because the screen has less of a frame around it.

You can go into the screen settings on the the 6700 and realign it when
needed.
If you plan to keep it for a while there is a great WM6 upgrade by Helmi
on ppcgeeks.com . I put it on my 6700 in September and it works great.
Makes the wait for the 6800 a lot easier !
