Hawkinpaul,
At best u are next to last; Verizon swapped my Samsung i730 for a vx6700.
So far I'm happy with it, but I'm disappointed that it too can have alignment problems. Definitely a software issue.
I told the Verizon manager, who disagreed, that there ought to be a bypass available - at least when the phone has a pull out keyboard. You should be able to at least see your contacts & calendar, etc. even if you need to replace the phone.
My screen was only slightly misaligned, but it still worked.
BTW, the screen on the 6700 is about 1-2 mm smaller on top & bottom. I put the Samsung i730 screen protector on it to compare and that's how I found out. It looked bigger to me - optical illusion I guess because the screen has less of a frame around it.
