It's "partially" a registry problem, and partially the DLLs being used for the bluetooth stack. Talking with someone more in the know, trying to swap out the DLL could result in total loss of mic audio on the device, both over bluetooth and on the device itself.
I spent a good two or three days working on it, but I just haven't dug deep enough in to it, nor do I have the knowledge to rip apart the files to find out what they are doing to try and fix it.
It's not going to just be a registry flip, I can tell you that...
