aGPS on cell phones is NOT just cell tower triangulation. It is a combination of cell tower triangulation AND satellite GPS. However, it requires cooperation with a location server at the carrier and does not provide the location data directly to any applications on the handset. That is why you need an app like VZNavigtor to use it.
There is a rumor that Verizon will be making VZNavigator and other location services available to Windows Mobile devices in the future, similar to how they added VCast Music to the Q9M.
In the mean time, there are lots of good, inexpensive, and small Bluetooth GPS receivers available that work with Google Maps, Windows Live Search, and tons of Windows Mobile navigation software.
