Yeah, 20/20 hindsight I should have done that. OTOH an expensive screen protector specifically marketed for a particular device SHOULD fit that device properly w/o trimming. Since others have reported that the Boxwaves fitted their Moguls perfectly, I think it must be a manufacturing tolerance issue.
