I have a good friend who is a leader in mobile technology in NYC. He is one of the most knowledgeable people I know regarding networks but is in love with RIM which is his biggest downfall in my opinion. I picked his brain on this exact topic last week after playing on the following site: HTC (Check out e-learning).

Q: What are the big differences between VZW and ATTW for a simple Joe like me? I have been waiting for the Samsung SCH-i760 but VZW is so slow that it is going to be ancient before they ever release it. ATTW is releasing the HTC 8925 which runs Windows Mobile 6 (good for my medical stuff) and can support Blackberry connect (good because it is the only way I can connect to my work outlook). I just keep hearing so many awful things about ATT's network compared to VZW. Any thoughts?

R: Actually AT&T's network is faster than Verizon’s. The issue is that the network is their high speed network is not as widely deployed. But it will be the 1st qtr of next year. I wouldn't count on being able to connect the HTC to your work blackberry system. The HTC has some security issues that likely will likely preclude the army from allowing it to be allowed on the system.
If you must have the medical apps I would recommend the HTC or some of the other pocket pc's from AT&T. I think the HTC is overpriced- the blackjack II and the Q will be released for AT&T soon too. If you're not tied to Pocket PC I would recommend a blackberry- either Verizon or AT&T's 8800 series or the curve.

BTW Blackberry announces earning on Thursday. The stock has doubled since it last announced earnings.....

So there you have it. I am considering the jump to ATT even though my wife is tied to VZW (Last year I convinced her entire family to switch to Verizon... ... ooops!)
