OK, so I have the HTC 5800 for a few days now. Here are some of my thoughts, so far:

1. Love the form factor!!! This phone is small and compact. As I mentioned before, I actually feel like I am carrying around a real phone. The form factor alone makes up for any shortcomings.

2. QWEST no longer allows tethering on this phone...bummer...I used to tethering often with my PPC 6700

3. The smartphone OS is very different from, but yet very similar to the pocket pc OS. It's been an adjustment

4. Battery life seems to very much better. I had pretty heavy usage yesterday (I did not recharge at any point)and at the end of the day my battery was at about 50%. I would have been dead with my PPC 6700.

5. The QWERTY keyboard is only 3 rows and my typing has been really slow. Right now I would say it is only slighty faster than typing/texting via T9. It might take time to get adjusted, but its like I am typing on a different keypad right now.

6. 3rd party apps will be necessary to really take advantage of the smartphone. Again, this is probably due to the fact that I am coming from the pocket pc os more than anything that has to do with the phone.

7. Internet access seems to be a bit faster--pages are loading quicker. I know there is a way to check your connection speed???

8. I never used the camera or video recorder on my PPC 6700 and will probably never use it on this phone, so i have nothing to report on that.

9. Is not compatible with a standard audio jack without using the splitter cable. You have to use the propriety headset which is a USB headset.

10. I sure hope it supports High Capacity microSDs because I ordered a 4 gig microSDHC and should get it tomorrow. I'll let you know.

11. Program Memory is 47.91 MB and 26.96 MB is used and 20.95 is free. I have no programs installed at all on the phone (waiting for my microSDHC card) and I haven't done too much web browsing. I have sync-up with my outlook (about 1100 contacts).

12. Can't get and/or don't know how to have my email show up in HTML.

13. The box says it supposed to be Windows Mobile Standard 6, but the device information says the OS is: Windows CE and the Version is: 5.20 (Build 123???

14. The box also says it supports A2DP but I can't get it to set my Jabra BT500 to wireless stereo (only hands-free). I appreciate any help with this.

15. Setting up a partnership with windows mobile device center was easy. It was also easy to set up my exchange server account.

16. I love the fact that you can actually turn the phone/pda off. I mean really it really turns off.

17. I have a lot of questions and things I need to figure out about the phone but I think most are smartphone versus pocket pc related issues and there doesn't seem to be many forums like pdaphonehome that have good answers or help for that.

I am sure I missed something...let me know if you have any questions....
