How does loading this ROM, or any others like it, void the warranty? Any reps for any of the carriers have any comment on this?

Today, I had to swap out my XV6700 phone (hardware issue) that was loaded with Phoenx06 C&S Verizon ROM and got a replacement and was about to reload Phoenx's ROM again. Was I lucky?
