Oh yes, when I asked him when the i760 would be out, he said that they are trying to get it out within two weeks, but he did not feel it was as much of a priority as some of the other devices that they really want to release release this month.
I am wondering what is going on in the minds of the VZW leadership. I am wondering how they got so disconnected from their customers?

I think that VZW is connected to the customers that will bring them more profit. Those who are computer savvy enough to buy a pda phone and add 3rd party apps and stream media do not garner VZW any additional revenue. Those who will buy phones, such as the RAZR2, and pay to watch reruns of MTV programming and sports highlights through VCast Mobile TV will generate way more revenue for VZW.
I think that might be why the VP said that "he did not feel it was as much of a priority as some of the other devices." If you think RAZR sales was tremendous amongst younger consumers because it was the slimmest phone available, wait until VZW announces that younger consumers will be able to watch Laguna Beach and The Real World on their RAZR2. The back-to-school sales period is coming up and those phones will be a hot commodity.
Furthermore, I can understand why the VP was somewhat smug about how "The Network" will resolve any consumer flight issues. Jumping ship and getting a pda phone from another service provider would be pointless in my case because VZW is the only reliable network in my market (DC). My friends and I joke that the only reason Cingular/AT&T has the fewest dropped calls is because they never connect in the first place. I have to get a VZW pda phone and I am confident that the i760 will be worth the wait.....
