With the new changed tax laws for non-profit orgs, we're being given a cell phone "benefit stipend" now rather than the company paying for service. As such, we can now pick any provider we want, so I looked at T-Mobile since they will most likely be the first to carry the Kaiser. I quickly backpedaled - the best data access T-Mob offers is EDGE, and their coverage is just plain AWFUL. I live in a fairly large city, where we have region-wide EVDO for 40 miles in every direction. According to T-Mob's coverage map, I'd be lucky to get three bars in town, and once I'm out of town if I leave the freeway corridor, I'd be hosed.

No thanks. As much as I dislike big V, and want the features of the Kaiser, I want to actually be able to USE my phone a lot more.
