Still, we cannot rule out the slight possibility of Rev A support (with a firmware upgrade). This requires a capable QCOM modem chipset (say, MSM6800 or better) that would have to have been embedded in the original design.
Unfortunately, we can't know what chip was spec'd without observing still-embargoed motherboard pics.

KBAM, rest assured this is NOT the case with i760. I can say that much and stay within NDA borderlines. REV A was an embryo during the beta-tests as we did not have VZW ready with REV A system towers and it would take a lot of hardware changes to accomplish TRUE REV A. As far as I can tell it had some sort of "generic" chipset that would "mimick" REV A. I know we were piggy-back riding on $prints CDMA REV A towers to test download speeds and upload speeds. It was not that impressive, but it was slightly better than EVDO. We could not effectively come up with good benchmark speeds but I would say it was pretty good for a cellular phone. The REV A data cards that VZW had at that time and that signal transmission was NOT compatible with the radio in the i760.
YET, I have seen embedded systems get its internal guts pulled and redone overnight at "sweat shops" just so it will compete in the "free-market". That's how much I can "talk" now more to come as and when it gets closer to release date
