The plans were so much cheaper too. With no special discounts from either. Sprint was 30% cheaper <...>

Too bad about the AT&T reception, I always thought that AT&T had the best coverage, but maybe that was back in the old analog TDMA days. I get great reception on my iPhone everywhere I have tried it, can't tell a difference from Sprint.

One option you have, and this is the one I have decided on, is to have both the iPhone *AND* the Mogul. I had ordered a Mogul about a week before the iPhone came out, thinking there was no way I was switching to AT&T after 10 years with Sprint. Well, after a brief hands-on with the iPhone, my master plan went out the window

I went ahead and returned my Mogul and had my master number ported over to AT&T from Sprint, that way I had my number that everyone knows on the iPhone. Then I reordered another Mogul on a new SERO line, where the phone was $288, and I got the $30 plan (450 anytime, U/L everything else plus data). The Mogul is basically going to be my Sirius, XM, Orb, SlingPlayer, etc device - all the things the iPhone can't do. For $1/day, I can handle that, so I don't lose the EVDO and multimedia stuff.

I can forward my main number from the iPhone to the Mogul, using whichever device and service I feel I need at the time. It does use minutes off both phones when I forward, but no biggie since I'm not a big talker and always have a ton of minutes left over.

This might not be an option for you and your wife, but for me it works great and I get to have the best of both worlds! Plus, with the Rev A and GPS upgrades coming out for the Mogul, I wasn't ready to abandon Sprint just yet.
