Hey there (name withheld), I’m hearing rumors of an ever increasingly delayed Samsung i760. Have you heard anything lately? -I’m totally geeked for this phone, but if it’s going to be much longer I might have to give GSM a wurl for all of our company PDA lines! Please let me know what you’re hearing. Thanks!

We had a meeting regarding all upcoming devices this morning and I haven't heard anything on the i760 that would warrant a delay (mid August release still). Corporate is VERY excited about this phone! You will be blown away with all that is new on this device. If you like your 730, you will LOVE the 760! This will be the standard in CDMA devices for the business professional.
I would urge you to avoid GSM. If you're use to the speed and quality of the i730 that you have today, your experience with the iphone, or any ATT phone, will be significantly different. The coverage on voice will be negligible (maybe), but the difference on data speeds is day and night.

The biggest downfall to the iPhone is the network that it runs on.
MSNBC Video

The data transmission rate on the EDGE network is about 80-100kbps compared to EVDO at 500-800kbps (80-120kbps upload). They have a display in the Apple stores that are connected to the Wi-Fi inside their store that perform really well. If you want to get a better depiction of how they'll operate in the real work you can disable the Wi-Fi and enable the EDGE.

Questions???
I spoke to our account rep again today and he said the above mentioned "mid August" date is still valid and there should be a firm internal date in the next "week or two". He also said it didnt look like there would be any type of "official" announcement from VZW prior to the b2b/soft release. He speculated that this could be due to the fact that they want to get any bugs worked out before any marketing push to avoid negative press. He said the b2b release should be 2 weeks prior to the general release. He reiterated that Verizon is very high on this device and there will be a considerable push once it is released.

So there you go. Take it for what's worth. Just another i760 "rumor" for the i760 "rumor thread", nothing too exciting like, say, a random bee gees post...
