I too was running a 6700 as the hype for the Mogul and the iPhone was growing. When the Mogul came out, the reviews were generally not bad, but they were somewhat underwhelming based on my expectations. Based on that, I had little hope for the Verizon 6800. I then did some research on the Blackberry Curve and 8800. If the iPhone wasn't just around the corner, I probably would have gotten the Blackberry. I figured it wouldn't take long to either miss the PPC or be happy to unload that burden. Fortunately I was in a financial situation to go back to the PPC if I didn't like the Blackberry.

It was by chance that I drove past an ATT store on the iPhone release day and the line only had about 15 people in it at 3pm. I made a deal with the devil, bit the bullet, and I now have no regrets.
