that should have worked. what do you have in your windows\appdb folder? there should be some .jar files in there with one of them being the opera mini jar. whatever the number is before the s is the number needed in your shortcut link.
as far as making mini the default browser, you could edit the registry handlers for http and https to point to the shortcut I referenced above, but I haven't tried that myself.
