Whether or not gps will be available (even though all signs point to it being an option), you can always buy a bluetooth gps receiver and software on your own. That's a one time purchase (unless you decide to spend money when the map dates become available every couple years or so). I personally use Tomtom.
There's no way I'll let Sprint nickel and dime me by charging me a monthly fee for gps service.
