In playing with my phone tonight I stuck my headset plug partway into my headset jack and got sound out of the speaker by lifting the base of the plug up towards the screen. This forced the jack inside the phone to change position and caused the speaker to start working. As soon as I release the plug the speaker stops playing but I can repeat the same process with a toothpick so it is not conducting the signal through the leverage device and the speaker will work. I am going to open my phone again tomorrow and see if I can locate the problem now that I have been able to make the speaker work through mechanical means. I thought it was a software issue but it must be mechanical. Will post more when I learn more.
