We note today's (Mon, 03/05/07) FCC grant of Authorization for HTC's Titan/6800 and presume this WM5 device (first PPC with EvDO Rev A!) will ship to Sprint and VZW within, say, 60 days. (Whether the carriers are prepared to roll it out timely is another matter...)

The time-to-market for the 6800 may be a useful benchmark in antcipating release of the SCH-i760, which has yet to receive FCC-certification. This is a process that can take 8-12 weeks from completion of the filing.

Those vaguely skeptical of HTC devices should read the amusing correspondence included with the document set on the FCC site. Embarrassing gaffes like these would simply not occur with the big boys--Sammy, LG, Nokia, Moto, SE, palm, RIM, etc. (Link to FCC at Engadget.)

It's clear the 6800 has a good feature set. What's not clear is whether it's a quality product.
