If you don't need super fast HSDPA or you would like to save significantly battery life, then there is a trick that makes it possible to switch the phone to GSM-only (no HSDPA) mode:

1. Enter *#1546792*#
2. Select Option 3 Network & Call Settings
3. Select option 5 Network Mode
4. Select GSM
