I can't say for sure, but my Plantronics 510 phone headset will connect automagically when I turn it on, as long as BT is turned on of course and even after you've turned BT off and then back on.
Also if you have more than 1 HS/HF profile it won't connect until you select the headset you want to use and sometimes it might just not work.
For music with my Lubix Stereo BT headset it is necessary to select connect to get it going again. However it's first time everytime to connect, whereas with the MS BT Stack it was very tricky to get the Lubix to connect.

With this stack, all the audio is routed to the headset so the phone doesn't ring just the headset, which plays the actual ringtone you use. So no, unfortunately it's not fixed

BIG NOTE: As far as I can tell because the stereo goes to the audio gateway and the HS/HF goes to the audio gateway, you're stuck having a BT phone or a BT Stereo headset. It's one or the other, only 1 at a time. When listening to music the phone will ring in the headset and stop the music, but you'll have to use the phone to talk and after you hang up the music will start playing in the headset again.
This is definitely not the way the MS BT Stack works, so either I'm doing something wrong or this BT Stack is still needing some fixing. Time to read the Hermes thread again and see if this is the way it works for them, or if this is the issue they're working on.
This is probably a deal breaker for most people, but for me it's not really an issue as I normally only listen to music when everyones sleeping, and during the day I use the MS BT Stack.
