Well, a day or two using funambol and it isn't so great.
Like many open source projects it's spoiled for want of a
happny 'o' tar.
Problem #1 is that nothing ever gets deleted!
I delete an appointment on my device, it stays on my desktop.
Vice verse. Same if I move an appointment. Now I have two.
Also, there are a few things that _require_ active sync e.g.:
Delta airlines schedule app, OneNote Mobile.
Problem #2 is worse: I did an active sync to catch up on
those things that aren't handled by funambol. Now I have two or
three copies of everything I added in the last two days. And a
bunch of old things have come back.
Typical sync/replication problems.
So, it would seem that you must use either only funambol,
in which case you have to put up with broken/lame sync
(no deletes, move becomes a split etc), OR you have to
not use fnambol , because active sync horribly breaks it.
Another thing it doesn't do is audio notes sync, which I use a lot.
So it looks like I will be deploying my own personal Exchange server
in a vmware instance, just to get remote sync that works over the
network. <sigh>
