Interesting things I have learned
A number of interesting tidbits in the new ROM:
No need to do the hack to update the time from the network, it is already done (although you do need to activate it in phone options | services as it is off by default).
If you have an exchange server with direct push, you don't need to always on hack, because direct push will maintain your connection. Seems to do a better job at it then the always on hack did in fact.
The method quoted above for activating wmodem and bluetooth DUN does not make wmodem visible in the programs folder. I needed "show all files" in file explorer and create a shortcut to it manually.
If I want to use wmodem or establish a bluetooth connection I need to disable direct push in comm manager. I used to be able to press and hold the red phone button to break my always on connection, but now direct push re-establishes it too fast for me to get wmodem started.
BT headset volume seems louder, but I need to use it in adverse conditions to be sure.
That's all for now.
Alan
