IMAP4 implementation on PPC or Smartphones has been this way from the start. It does not move deleted items or sent items to those folders on the server.
To compensate for this, I used to set up a folder on the device called PDA Deleted Items, which synced with the desktop, and would simply move them to this folder instead of deleting them. Once you have this habit, it does not require more thought than deleting them.
I would also set up a PDA Sent items folder on the device and sync it with the desktop. I would then simply copy items to myself when sending emails. This would force a copy to end up on my Outlook desktop. I would set up a Rule to move items coming from my email account to the PDA Sent Items folder.
This worked for years until I recently decided to use an Exchange Hosting service.
